I don’t know about you but I had a wonderful Christmas, with lots of family and friend and delicious food–I even did some of the cooking! As a result, however, I haven’t gotten my lazy self around to reviewing a new gold site for this week. I bet there are some Blizzard employees enjoying a nice Christmas bonus as we speak! Incredibly enough, a spokesman for the game says that the base package for new subscribers is actually doing better than it was this time last year.

Okay, so if you’re considering buying a WoW account you have probably heard many of the same horror stories I have—people losing hundreds of dollars on scams, or worse yet getting banned by Blizzard and losing everything they’ve built on their own account—level 70′s, epic gear…..ouch! So naturally you don’t want that to happen to you. I want to help make sure you don’t end up as one of those horror stories, and so I’ve decided to compile for you a few tips on buying WoW accounts safely.

1. Look for the best, most trusted online retailers. Don’t buy an account from Joe Schmo down the street (even if he seems like a trustworthy guy) and don’t buy one off craigslist or eBay. You are way more likely to get scammed in a situation like that where it’s your word against someone else’s.

2. Look for sites that carry a money-back guarantee (like the one offered by toonstorm.com, for example) just in case something goes wrong or your new account gets stolen back by the original user (hey, it could happen!) Some sites also offer insurance on your purchases, but if you have a guarantee that probably isn’t necessary.

3. Always make sure the site is willing to offer you a REAL person to talk to. Live help is a hallmark of a well-established, legitimate service.

And most importantly:

NEVER use a bought account for bought gold or powerleveling (and this should be common sense, if you bought an account it probably has high-enough-level characters) If anything, use your own original account to make gold purchases and then mail that gold to your other account. This is the best way to stay off the radar and avoid that worst of sentences, being banned from WoW entirely.

We’ve really been gaming it up here, WoTLK is as good or better than everyone expected, if a Blizz Dev ever reads this blog – hats off to you sir/madam – hats…off!

I had one of my regulars come in last night saying he has been wanting to trade from horde to alliance for some time now (I guess on his server its pretty lop-sidded right now). Anyway, after about 30 minutes of chatting and mentioning the blog he decided to buy an account and test out the process for us!

Of course once he got to reading the blog he decided to go with a site we reviewed a while ago, but that was safe and easy – I guess I can’t blame him.

He’s decided to buy a lvl 80 character from Toonstorm.

Upon purchasing I have found something very unique about how toonstorm transfers accounts that other companies don’t do is actually transfer the character for you onto your own newly created account; making it 100% safe against chargebacks reversals etc – which take it from me is a real pain in the orc butt.

So the purchase of the new level 80 wow account is going full bore; he just made the purchase off one of the pcs here and I’m watching the process; in total it looks like it’ll take about an hour and a half to get the new account setup under his name and get it traded over safely.

Seems like a great way to do it and toonstorm is helping him through the entire process.
